Excerpts from this eye-popping WaPo story suggest Trump's staffers think he's guilty

If you’ve been closely following Donald J. Trump’s criminal political career over the past two years you’re not likely to be shocked by any breaking developments in the Russia collusion saga, short of Carrot Top showing up in the pee tape.

But is it possible that Trump’s own staffers are just as jaded as we are?

Yesterday’s Washington Post story about Trump fuming in the White House as a barrage of bad news flashed across his teevee screen seems to suggest that White House staffers know — or strongly suspect — that their ocher overlord is a Moscow mole.

For instance, there was this:

But Trump’s anger Monday was visible to those who interacted with him, and the mood in the corridors of the White House was one of weariness and fear of the unknown. As the president groused upstairs, many staffers — some of whom have hired lawyers to help them navigate Mueller’s investigation — privately speculated about where the special counsel might turn next.

If you truly believed this whole affair is a total farce meant to distract the public from Hillary’s tireless efforts to help Russia get the bomb, would you feel a “fear of the unknown,” and would you keep a lawyer on retainer?

Even more telling is this quote from a senior Republican: “The walls are closing in. Everyone is freaking out.”

Rats on a sinking ship freak out. SS officers in Hitler’s bunker freak out. Who doesn’t freak out? People who are certain their boss and leader is an innocent bystander.

Finally, there was this revealing account:

Away from the podium, Trump staffers fretted privately over whether Manafort or Gates might share with Mueller’s team damaging information about other colleagues. They expressed concern in particular about Gates because he has a young family, may be more stretched financially than Manafort, and continued to be involved in Trump’s political operation and had access to the White House, including attending West Wing meetings after Trump was sworn in.

Again, this raises an obvious question: What do they have to worry about if this is nothing but a dishonest Democratic smear campaign that, for some reason, is being spearheaded by a registered Republican?

Liddle Donny Trump is in trouble, and everyone outside of his dwindling horde of deplorables knows it. Sit back and enjoy the shitshow.
